What is CSR?
Corporate Social Responsibility is a concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns into their business operations. CSR is generally understood as being the way through which a company achieves a balance of economic, environmental and social imperatives.
What made social responsibility mandatory for Corporate?
The Companies Act 2013, particularly Section 135, underscores the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by making it mandatory for companies to allocate 2% of their profits towards social and environmental initiatives. They have to spend their part of their income as their responsibility towards society.
Applicability:

Net Worth: Companies with a net worth of INR 500 Crores or more.

Turnover: Companies with a turnover of INR 1000 Crores or more.

Net Profit: Companies with a net profit of INR 5 Crores or more.
