Our Challenge
In Belagavi, numerous underprivileged slums lack essential privileges, especially when it comes to educating their children. Poverty is a pervasive issue, hindering these children's access to education. To empower these children to become literate, we established the Utkarsha Learning Center in 2018. This school has been dedicated to providing free skill-based education to over 640 slum children. However, a significant challenge we faced was the arduous commute these children had to endure to reach the school. Since most of the children are under the age of 12, traveling long distances through heavy traffic posed serious safety concerns.
With the invaluable support of GIC Housing Finance under the CSR initiative, we have been able to address this critical issue. Their generous assistance has made it possible for us to procure an additional school bus that can safely transport a larger number of children to our learning center and back to their location. This development not only ensures the safety of these young learners but also streamlines their access to education, reducing the delays that previously affected their attendance. This provided them with the educational opportunities they deserved.
