The number of children studying in government schools is higher than the private schools. Despite government efforts to transform the government schools, the schools are lacking infrastructure facilities and that leads to failure to attract the students to government schools as well as to provide quality education to needy children.
Mahesh Foundation is aware of the challenges faced by government schools and started School Support Program. Under this initiative, Mahesh Foundation has adopted four government schools in Belagavi namely

Government Kannada Higher Primary School, Kanabargi, Belagavi,

Government Marathi Higher Primary School, Kanabargi, Belagavi,

Government Kannada Primary School, Basavanakolla, Belagavi, and
-
Government Kannada Higher Primary School, Rukmini Nagar, Belagavi.
Mahesh Foundation took the initiative to support these schools. Under the School Support program. The objective of this initiative is to strengthen the infrastructure and education quality of this schools. Since then, we have initiated many developmental works in these schools.
Government Kannada School,
Rukmini Nagar
The School was established in 2007 and it is managed by the Department of Education. It is located in Urban area. It is located in BELGAUM CITY block of BELAGAVI district of Karnataka.
The school consists of Grades from 1 to 6. The school has Government building. It has got 4 classrooms for instructional purposes. It has 2 other rooms for nonteaching activities.
Problem
The school has a drinking water facility but the water was wasted due to a lack of taps and washbasin. This led to the children the lack of privileges for drinking water facilities.
Solution
We have supported under our school adoption program for water taps and washbasin facilities of this school to ensure the proper utilization of water and access to drinking water facilities for the children.
Government Kannada Higher Primary
School, Kanabargi
The school was established in 1872 and it is managed by the Department of Education. It is located in an Urban area. It is located in BELGAUM CITY block of BELAGAVI district of Karnataka. The school consists of Grades from 1 to 8. Kannada is the medium of instruction in this school. The school has a Government building. It has got 14 classrooms for instructional purposes.
Problem
The Government Higher Primary Kannada School, Kanbargi, Belagavi, has no proper pathway for the movement of the children also doesn’t have the proper playground.
Solution
We have supported under our school adoption program for the proper playground and the pathway to ensure a suitable playground for these children.
Problem
The Government Higher Primary Kannada School, Kanbargi, Belagavi, has a playground but is not in a condition to play for the children and the surrounding area of the school is not suitable for the movement of the children studying in this school.
Solution
We have supported under our school adoption program for the organized playground and pavers in the around school area to ensure easy movement for these children.
Problem
This school has no proper classroom for the children to study, needs to renovate the classroom and also doesn’t have a long jump ground for the children’s sports activities.
Solution
We have provided a long jump ground for the children that would help the interested one to practice and participate in the sports activities.
We have completed the long jump groundwork and made it available for the children to play. This playground would provide the platform for the children to achieve their goals in sports.
Problem
The school environment plays a vital role in children’s development as they spent most of their time in the school. The school has compound for the protection, but it was old and doesn’t have properly painted on it.
Solution
Under our school support program, we have painted the compound of this school. Also, designed this compound with warli painting that gives a social message.

Government Marathi School,
Kanabargi
MARATHI HIGHER PRIMARY SCHOOL KANBARGI was established in 1956 and it is managed by the Department of Education. It is located in the Urban area. It is located in BELGAUM CITY block of BELAGAVI district of Karnataka.
The school consists of Grades from 1 to 8. The school has a Government building. It has got 12 classrooms for instructional purposes. More than 300children are studying in this school.
Problem
The school’s compound height was low and some drunkard people used to jump the compound and drink there. Also, they threw bottles in the school premises. This has spoiled the school and its surrounding environment. The school was in need of protection from such acts.
Solution
Under our school support program, we have provided protection by grill. This has prevented the people from jumping the compound. This would help the hundreds of children learning in this school.

Here are the glimpses work progress of the grill that we have undertaken under School Support Program. Since, then we have undertaken many developmental programs in this school.
Problem
The School didn’t have a pure drinking water facility for the children. There was tank which was not in proper condition. So, there was a need of the hour for drinking water facilities.
Solution
We have supported for water taps and pure drinking water facilities for this school to ensure the proper utilization of water and access to drinking water for the children.
